Why Does Soulja Boy Keep Giving Us Ammunition?

If you're even at this site, there's a chance that you probably aren't that big of a Soulja Boy fan. But a lot of people, me included, tried to write off his lack of talent, coonish demeanor, and silly baiting of hip hop legends (who really wants it with Ice-T, the original OG) as a product of the new generation gap that's becoming increasingly an overbearing issue in hip hop. But now he's went too far with his assertions to Toure (read his blog on the issue), when Toure decided to give the Proust questionnaire to various rappers. It's one thing to act like a coon, but an entirely different thing to give a shout out to slave traders directly.

Now not every rapper had problems with that, with Juelez Santana giving an answer to the question "How Would You Like To Die" with "Loved" that closely mirrored Proust's answer of "Beloved". Apparently, since I can't find video of this debacle yet (oh BET, so behind the curve) on the internet, Soulja Boy answers to the questionnaire went beyond quixotic to displaying a level of ignorance that make you question where his handlers, PR people, teachers ( oh yeah, he told them yah, bitch, yah), or parents where. When asked by Toure, “What historical figure do you most hate?” and then prompted by Toure with suggestions from other rappers answers such as Hitler, Bin Laden, or slave masters, Soulja Boy thought it was just the time to thank whitey for bringing his ancestors here. "Oh wait! Hold up! Shout out to the slave masters! Without them we'd still be in Africa. We wouldn't be here, to get this ice and tattoos." Now diamonds are readily available in Africa, shouts out to Blood Diamond, and tattoos where widely available, but an imbecile willing to shout out slave masters deserve every bit of derision aimed at them.

In a day that saw the someone who actually contribute to hip hop, Shakir Stewart, commit suicide, it seems kind of pointless to harp about Soulja Boy. But I don't want him spreading his insidious message to his fellow young ones. Maybe the solution would be to lock him in a room with Ice-T so he can learn how they do it on the Left Coast.
