Arize: Whassup?! Who are you?
Hi ! My name is Bill. I am 33 years old. I am French and live in Lille, in the north of France, next to Belgium.

I studied in an Art school in Belgium. I first worked as a graphic illustrator and drew signs you can see on French motorways! Then, I worked in a vinyl records shop on line : it was great cause I worked with my 2 passions : music & graphic design. I sold records and drew album covers. I am still collecting records and am also DJ. It was cool but I knew I wanted to be my own boss, so I quitted this job.

At the end of 2006, I decided to create my own brand : OTOMOBILL. The name came from “Bill” of course but also because my father owns a garage, so I grew up in mechanics, cars, extreme sports… I used to practice BMX. It was easy to find this name.

Arize: From your myspace page its kinda hard to get a grasp at what it is that you do…Sum it up for us?
OTOMOBILL was first created as a brand of tee-shirts. I wanted to create my own style. It first began in Lille : I wanted to see what people thought about the logo, about my style. I started to put stickers all around the city and also in Belgium. I call that “Stickermania”: a way to show I am in the place ! Very soon, I was asked to draw flyers, to make print works, etc… and I created several series of tee-shirts.
I associate my graphic works to my music : I also organized and participated to parties. OTOMOBILL is my creation mixing things I like. There is no boundaries, no rules. I work on everything I am interested in. It is like your magazine ! opened to several things : music, art, design, fashion…

Myspace and internet are tools to be broadcasted all over the world. Anyone can be interested by my work. The aim is to be seen, to be known : that is urban culture.

Arize: Like to stay incognito huh?
With OTOMOBILL, I create something like me : I want people to react when they see my creations, to make them move and wonder what OTOMOBILL is. I am a very shy person and it is a way to express myself. OTOMOBILL is my visual identity, my lifestyle. It is my creation, and yes, it may be a way to stay incognito and show only my work and my world.

Arize: Oh ok cool….So what else do you have going on at the moment?
I am now working on a big project, a secret project for the moment. The only thing I can say it is that it will take place in France, but with international collaborations.

Arize: So you got France on lock huh?
(laugh) I work a lot in France because I live there and I don’t speak very well in English. However, I have many contacts in Italy and Germany. I also have a project in USA.

I am not so famous in France, probably because recognition of urban art has just started few years ago.
