M iss Wax is a jewelry line for the risk-taking ladies who appreciate a little color and a little culture. Miss Wax strives to fill the gap in the ever- predictable jewelry market by releasing earrings and necklaces influenced by life’s simple pleasures. Hip-hop, Art, and originality.

Arize: The jewelry is crazy original! What influenced you to do jewelry?
I started the line after a little small town hype in my hometown San Diego. I wanted to do something no one else was doing. I am surrounded by a plethora of board shorts and Birkenstocks, and frankly, It makes me sick. I’ve always had an urge to release the creativity and ideas that I’ve had floating around, but didn’t want to just make t-shirts like everyone else and their mom was doing.

So I got crafty and came up with Miss Wax. People liked it, and I loved the response.

Arize: You have you own original style and look. What has been the response from people who first see your work?
I get some pretty funny reactions sometimes, especially where I live.
But really, primarily everyone loves it. Its crazy! I get 80 year old women hyped on Miss Wax and the young ones are feelin’ it too. It’s flattering.

Arize: Your work seems to have an 80’s kind of theme. Is that what you get your styling and design ideas from?
I wont stop at the 80’s but I am definitely influenced by them. I get inspiration from many different eras. This upcoming line has got the NYC in the 80’s feel, but next season leans more towards a 60’s revolution influence. The colors are fucking amazing. Just wait. Miss Wax will be constantly evolving and improving with the times.

Arize: So you just do necklaces and earrings? Are there any plans to branch out to any other form of accessory?
Oh hell yes.
I plan to release rings and a few other accessories including men’s chains/pendants in 08’.
As far as the next few years…
I hope to branch out into a full accessory line and maybe a little apparel.
I just want everything to be brilliant, so I’m taking it a little slow.

Arize: What is the piece that you’ve done that you would never give up? Or that was the hardest to sell?
Well…I still have this piece I made over a year ago with some fool on a bike smoking a cigarette. Man…shit just wont sell. C’mon’ who doesn’t like riding bikes.

Arize: Since all these are custom pieces you keep yourself pretty busy right?
Oh yes…
All the goods currently sold on misswax.com are handmade.
But, I have just recently released a manufactured line.
“Throwback” is available in about 10 stores in the US and Japan, and will be available on misswax.com at the end of March.

Arize: Does your collection have any seasonal themes?
“Throwback” is my spring/summer line of 08’…
I will be releasing new seasonal goods every 6 months in addition to the handmade goods available on misswax.com.
