Jason Kochis–Multi-talented graffiti artist & painter

Arize: Hahah “Big Jaw” (above pic) seems like an asshole don’t he? Lol
Lol! I can see how you might think that! But no- he is just crabby and a little misunderstood.

Arize: Give us a lil summary of who you are?
I am a freelance artist living and working in the Atlanta area. I create paintings, logos, t-shirts, websites, gigposters, fonts, and custom vinyl toys.

Arize: So how was it doing those pieces for Coca Cola and how did you get involved with them?
It was a design contest put on by Play Imaginative Toys in Singapore and the Coca-Cola Company. They provided us with a template of the Trexi toy and we had to create our vision of “A Better Tomorrow.” My vision was a world of racial equality and the end of all the ridiculous wars. After submitting the designs, people from around the globe had a few weeks to vote and pick their favorites. The top 20 designs were to be produced in the collection. Thanks to all the people who voted for me, I made it into the series! It was really great to be a part of such a cool project. It was also my first toy produced, so I’m pretty pleased with how it came out. They are now available at: click here

Arize: Besides painting, graphic and such…what is your favorite medium to work in? And which one gets the most response?
I like working in acrylic paint the best. It’s really versatile and the drying time is pretty quick as well. It’s similar to working on a computer. Overall, I would say my design work gets the most monetary response. It allows me to work on some really cool projects, especially when it’s for bands I grew up listening to.

Arize: Cool, well whats next for ya?
I have a toy release event at The Gallery at East Atlanta Tattoo for my “Planet of the Apes” Circuspunks on April 12th. It’s actually an entire Planet of the Apes themed show to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first film. Should be awesome! After that, a ton of gallery shows and some more toy releases (I hope!)

Arize: Thanks for sitting down with us…
