Bunny Kitty–Graffiti Artist & Illustrator
Winston Churchill said that history is written by the victor. The phrase has come to ring true for most of Persue's career. Persue’ pronounced (per-sway) was responsible for some of the most influential design aesthetics in action sports brands since the early nineties.
As a young graffiti writer from Rancho Bernardo (suburb of San Diego) Persue’ was tapped to do the initial designs for Eightball Clothing, which would later become the now infamous DC Shoes, Dub, and Droors brands. With no design experience what so ever and in an era where Adobe design programs weren't even accessible to teenagers Persue churned out design after design for the small fledging brand and changed the entire scope of what people thought was possible for skate brands. Today's generation might find it hard to believe that skateboarding, hip-hop, and graffiti were not considered parts of the same sub-culture. Looking back 20 years ago some of his earliest design and ideas were some of the first to bridge the gap between the sub cultures.
Persue’ should by all accounts be a household name within the industry and yet oddly enough has managed to escape the spotlight time and time again. Having done graphics and branding for the likes of DC Shoes, Droors, Dub, Evol, Special Blend, Circa, Osiris, and Four Star to name just a few. He still travels unnoticed.
Oh and don't forget that during his 20 plus year tenure in the action sports world since the age of 16 he was also earning his stripes as one of the West Coast's most prolific graffiti character artists.
Mid way through his graffiti career Persue’ reinvented his style and began to focus on pushing his letterforms to new heights. The final result led to him being ushered in to a select group of writers that are masters of both the character and the letter. His talents also earned him entry into some of the most prolific graffiti crews of all time like New York's C.O.D (Children of Doom) Can 2's Stick Up Kids, and most recently the world famous Seventh Letter Crew.
With all that aside, Persue’ may not have the benz or the yacht, but he is rich up to eyeballs in talent and if his newest and most elaborate project to date "Bunny Kitty" is any indication of what is in store for the masses then it is only a matter of time before Persue’ starts writing his own history from hear on out.

Arize: WTF and WhoTF is bunny kitty? Got some cross breedin goin on huh?
Bunny Kitty is a post apocalypse, magical suit wearing spray painting super hero. She does not have an owner other than me owning her trademark. She really does exist though she lives here at my house. Ask any of our friends Mike Giant, Revok, Ghost, or Wane. They’ll tell you, they’ve all met her and they love her.
Arize: How did that (cross breeding) work out?
I took two of the cutest animals and smashed them together. I wanted to create something that had a lot mass appeal. When I was growing up being a graffiti writer you were considered a tag banger or gangster. This was never the case for me. I just wanted to be good at what I did and that was art. I use Bunny Kitty to tell the story of life, love and the experiences we all have to endure. In life I’ve had my highs and lows so I know what I am talking about.
Arize: So who’s behind Bunny Kitty? This can’t be Bunny Kitty typing all this can it?!
Persue’. I am a west coast graffiti pioneer, fashion designer and creative director that caught the spray painting bug in 1988.
Arize: As the creator, how did people receive this idea?
I remember asking my family and close friends before I even did anything with the character if they thought I was crazy. They told me that I’d be crazy not to. Many of my friends and mentors are “True School” graffiti kings, so when they said go for it I did! I get a lot of positive response to the Bunny Kitty project from all over the planet. Either people wanting product or a canvas or just to say they love what we do. That’s a great feeling because we just wanted to have fun with it and it has been nothing but fun from the start. So we thank our fans for that!

Arize: For those that don’t know..Can you sum up what it is exactly that you do?
For the past 17 years I have been creating many of today’s top skateboard and snow companies brand direction. DC shoes, Circa footwear, and Vox Footwear are just a few companies that I have helped to establish. For example I named and did the entire brand identity of Circa footwear including their logo. I’ve worked with most of today’s and yesterday’s top skaters, Danny Way, Jay Adams, Rob Dyrdek, Dan Drehobl, Alphonzo Rawls, Chad Muska, Neil Blender, Jerry Hsu and Pat Duffy to name a few. I hate to name drop, but oh well. I have done countless shoe designs, skate graphics, snow graphics, logos, t-shirts and product development. I have done so much work that it is hard to even show people everything. There has been talks of a personal website or a book in the not too distant future.
Arize: Bunny Kitty seems cute but I’m sure if she bites she can give you quite an itch. Hate to tell the docs that story. Lol
Well I’ll say this if you cross Bunny Kitty you don’t stand a chance. You may get man handled by her or by some of her very tough friends. So don’t take your chances. 8. No duplications huh? Or are there more of these things (Bunny Kitties) running around? There is only one Bunny Kitty. But we have some pretty cute fans, they are kinda like Bunny Kitty and the Booger Monsters.

Arize: Besides the crazy illustrations and t-shirts and toys what else can we expect in the future from you?
More art shows, more art tours, more graffiti, more Bunny Kitty products and an animated film. We are working on a tour right now for Japan. We have collaborated with a great Punk/Rock band Dare Devil Jane to bring Bunny Kitty’s favorite rock and roll band The Slugganauts to life so be on the look out for a music cd and videos. I came up with their look and some friends and I did the make up and clothing. In the story Bunny Kitty falls in love with the lead guitarist Dee Dee Meow.
Arize: Before we get outta here can you describe the sound a Bunny Kitty makes?
